Coaching Services Contract

This contract represents an agreement between the below (from here on designated as "the coach", who has agreed to provide pastoral coaching) and the CLERGY COACHING PROJECT of Lutheran Social Service of MN & Fairview Ministerial Health.

Purpose of Clegy Coaching

The purpose of Clergy Coaching is to support the development of productive and high functioning clergy for the benefit of the mission of the church. Coaching is a process that can enhance personal and professional pastoral performance. It is not a substitute for counseling, therapy, medical care, family therapy or crisis intervention. Clergy Coaches are not therapists. Problems of depression, alcohol or drug dependency or abuse, serious family issues or conduct unbecoming of clergy will not be subjects of the coaching conversation. The coaching conversation will include goal setting, values clarification, action steps, listening, questioning, challenging, encouraging, noting & celebrating progress.

Commitment of Pastoral Coaches

  • Attendance at the two-day Coaching Clinic;
  • Participation as a Coaching Client in 10-12 coaching sessions following the Clinic;
  • Being available to coach a minimum of six (6) clergy over a period of two years. (You are not expected to provide coaching for more than three (3) clergy at any given time.);
  • Participate in the program evaluation process;
  • Agree to provide coaching only through the LSS/Fairview Clergy Coaching Program during the first two years following the completion of the Coaching Clinic.

Commitment of Clegy Coaching Administration

  • Provide training and supervision of pastoral coaches;
  • Provide reimbursement for all telephone and mileage expenses;
  • Provide modest stipend of $20.00 per Coaching Session;
  • Administer referral and matching service for coaches and persons receiving coaching;
  • Provide evaluation feedback.
